http://www.kennysia.com/archives/2009/12/video-travel-gu.php - damn you kennysia. Haha. I'm envious of you.
Anyway, the whole point of today's entry isn't about kennysia, or mrbrown, or another writer of my age (i must say, i was surprised) named Hidzir. [wow. free publicity in this humble blog] I wanted to talk about my rave that I was going to have this month.
I am thrilled to get my new sexy thing after the chinese new year holidays... in fact, I actually intended to buy them on Tuesday when I meet MJ(tobeconfirmed)...
MJunsays SAL!!!!! i come cari u!!

MJunsays free for me maaaaa? =p
... nonetheless, I have to make a decision somewhat.
At first I wanted an Olympus EP2...
Kinky, lightweight, 1 lens (14-42mm) and a whopping S$1698. That is also without its EVF (ElectricViewFinder, for those who don't know the jargon) which I so love to have... No matter how many times I try it on my brother's Nikon DSLR, I will never manage good manual shot without the neccessary peephole.
So I was Settled on the SEXY, sexysexysexylicious EP1...
which was its older sibling, minus off a few new nitty gritty enhancements and I could get it at a price of S$1598 with two lenses (14-42mm & 17mm kit -*whistles*) and also a free Olympus Flash (that cost S$308) or so the advert says...
But as I am impatiently waiting for the time that I could swerve by the store and act like I'm so pro-photographer, asking cool details and hoping for a decent extra doorgifts, I was browsing through Olympus' website to see this...
The newest edition, upgraded version of the EP1, EPL1.
Smaller than EP1, and a few added enhancements from EP1. But most importantly...
With integrated built in flash...
Like. Yes, if I get this, I have the hotshoe free for my EVF, which EP1 cannot support except for the viewfinder for 17mm lenses, those that you recall using when we have our old school penandshoot cameras.

Of course, this is much more cute (yes, pardon my female instincts), but I believe a EVF is much more worthy for a good picture...
One thing about astigmatism is that, if you don't use the correct lenses, what you see that's clear is obviously out of focus for others. Probably soft focused, at most blurred. Especially when I can't even see my fonts when I read my blog without my lenses.
So I cannot help but send out an email to the Customer Support.
[Something's wrong with the Google Chrome Screenshot application]
So much so I have to hold back from buying till I get a reply from them... And I keep forgetting that emails are also obviously deemed as work, and I have to wait till the festive season is over...
And it won't be over till...
Our operating hours for this festive season will be as follows:
1) 13th February 10, Saturday : Closed
2) 15th February 10, Monday : Closed
3) 16th February 10, Tuesday : Closed
4) 17th February 10, Wednesday : Closed
We, Olympus, wish you a Happy & Prosperous New Year

PROPEROUS, indeed. Ugghghghgh.
But I need help. Help from someone who knows a lot more about photography than I do..

I want to know, to what extent are the differences between a 1/4000 and a 1/2000 shot. I obviously would find it unnecessary to use the bulb for up to 30 mins, unless I'm very sure the Singapore Skies would be wide enough for me to take my favourite stars in due time... and I'm sure 8 mins would be sufficient. But, seriously? I need help in this department.
This is when I wish I have a person who's more geeky enough that I am for a boyfriend.
And to me, geek isn't something bad, you're smarter than me, and that, would make me look at you in awe. :D But of course, if you ever say, 'the Pen series are just bull...' I'll rip your eyes out. You're insulting my female instincts.

Do you plan to freeze objects that move very fast?
ReplyDeleteThe football shots that I took at 1/2000 is enough to freeze the flight of the ball and actions.
Some works from press photographers that I've seen used 1/500 in a football game and can still hold down the actions.
chunKun.
really? then, that is a sure ok feeling already :]
ReplyDeleteas in, i should just get E-PL1 and not contemplate of getting E-P1... though it will give me 2 set of lenses.
