Countdown Posts for 2008: -1

So I'm rotting on the seat right now, slowly sipping my ice-cold coffee and reading blogs... and I've just realised...

What the DNA happened to mine?

I always remember taking pictures and writing a post-it in my internal memory that's available in my head but I guess that either I forgot to Save it and Publish it on my blog, or my internal memory's full... probably just fragmented [and needs a defrag].

Well anyway, I think it's time to deal with a new project to mark the end of this year.
And trust me, it's hell donkeys a memorable year for me...

And throughout the rotting season of mine...
I've gone crazy over Ghost In the Shell...

I believe my eldest brother once asked me to watch it years ago, but I just couldn't be bothered to come around and do so. But I stumbled upon it a few weeks back and never have stopped looking back since. Heh.

Basically the show originated from a manga written by Shirō Masamune[士郎 正宗], who is also responsible for the famous Appleseed. Well, so far I've watched Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C and currently watching Ghost In the Shell: 2nd Gig and boy, if animes are all like this, I'll be in for a good ride.

The show genre is cyberpunk (or so what Wikipedia explains it), and it's basic setting is during a time where technology, cyborgs, humans, artificial intelligence are common and normal. For example, if your heart goes kapoot, you can go through an operation and out comes you with a mechanical heart. Cool huh? So far because of such available 'operations' you can remain alive in terms of soul even when your original body has died out. It revolves around our sexy woman, Major Kusanagi Motoko [草薙 素子], who is a cyborg working as the squad leader of Public Security Section 9, which are responsible in handling technology-related crimes.

In Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, episodes are divided according to solo/standalone episodes and complex episodes. Solo/standalone episodes are individual cases while complex episodes are continous episodes which looks into the mysterious "Laughing Man" case.

Nevertheless, what I like most in this anime is that it's very much a brainthinking one, with a kick-ass, smart, can-do-anything cyborg lady who leads the pack of respectable males. Oh ya and of course... What I adored the most was...

Tachikomas!
They're blue, spiderlike robots meant for warfare and they're all equipped with artificial intelligence. Based on their setup, after every mission, they go for repairs and service which collates all their memories and thus giving them confusion towards their identities. They were junked away by Matoko because they started having individual character and deemed to be too curious about the world that they couldn't fully concentrate on a mission.

I'll give a spoiler - although they were ditched, they came back to help Section 9 when the company got blacklisted and condemned by the government for the wrong reasons. SO much so that they were recruited back in 2nd Gig.

They are so adorable that I'd love one for myself!

And really there is a mini-tachikoma available, made by Bandai. They can walk, dance and talk! (in japanese, of course) Although limited, I wish they advance it and I'll get one for myself, for sure. (Note to any future prospects out there: You have to bare with my excessive behaviour over such things.)

To see how adorable it is... here's a youtube video!
